Where did the idea for the story come from?

The original story (Reborn – Reborn Marks Series #1) originally came while attending a writer’s conference in Calgary, Alberta. Being surrounded by authors and ideas triggered my own creative juices. The idea for the sequel really came from the characters themselves and the drive to continue their stories.

Give a quote from the books, one that says little but speaks volumes.

Description

Haunted by memories of those left behind, Lexil and Finn are forced to venture back into the Wastelands.

The Unclaimed Cities are not the idyllic setting Lexil, Finn, and Ceera thought it would be. This new land has challenges of its own – which they soon discover.

When Lexil and Finn return to the Wastelands, they are accompanied by Kaylen, someone they can’t decide is a friend or foe. As they retrace their path, they meet up with old allies and enemies, and encounter other treachery embedded in the Wastelands. The trio are forced to face their own assumptions, prejudices, and fears.

Excerpt

Pressing her hands to her ears, Lexil squeezed her eyes shut and attempted to block out the sensations of sight, sound, and even touch, failing miserably at the task. Stomach swirling and threatening to reject its contents, head pounding and earlobes tingling oddly, she rocked.

The wailing sound darted directly into her ears and rattled and pinched, the pitch shifting to an anguishing frequency.

Before long, she was curled up tight, lying on her side, hands and elbows wrapped around her head. The wail surrounded her, poked at her, vibrated through her veins. It was becoming a part of her.

Lexil whimpered. Vision clouding, she staggered to her knees. “We need… to get … away from…” She pitched forward.
