After escaping an abusive relationship, Chesney Ward fights to take back control of her life. She longs to leave behind her troubled past, but she craves more than what her small town has to offer.
The Air Force provides the escape she needs.
After arriving at her first duty station, Chesney meets Staff Sergeant Zane Thomas, a Special Forces airman. He is used to exercising control in his life, which she doesn’t mind. However, she has no idea she’s getting more than she bargained for.
Zane thinks no woman could ever make him want to settle down. That is until he meets Chesney, a small-town girl with a big heart. Her Southern accent and honey-brown eyes make him forget how to breathe.
Over time, their lives will change, and they will be forced to part ways.
When Zane reappears many years later, Chesney’s life is turned upside-down. Not only is she faced with sharing a life-altering secret with him, but she is also given a second chance to rekindle what they once had years ago.
Will Chesney be able to love him back to her, or is Zane too broken to be saved?
This book is pure romance with a hero that is as dashing and handsome as you would hope.
There is something about Zane and Chesney’s love that draws the reader in and Kris Nacole knows how to write romance.
As with every love story there are things that get in the way. For Chesney, her previous relationships leaves a lot of scars. For Zane, he is every woman’s man, until he meets Chesney and then the war gets in the way.
This story is a emotional roller coaster that you will need to keep your box of tissues close by.
***This is a standalone novel with no cliffhangers. This book is not part of a series.***
Warning: This book is intended for readers 18+ due to some explicit language and mature themes.
Karen’s Magic Review
What an emotional roller coaster! Kris Nacole is very good at creating characters and her hero Zane, what a man!
This is a love story from every angle. Chesney and Zane make a good couple.
A good story and characters, I could see it so clearly as they laughed and cried and kissed and made up.
His sandy blond hair was the typical military-style haircut shaved on the sides and back and spiked up in the front. I wanted to run my fingers through his hair, and I couldn’t help but wonder how his strong arms would feel around me. He was my type of guy. Muscular, but not so much that his muscles looked like balloons ready to pop.
I smiled at him as I walked toward the door. He gave me a slight nod; then, his lips formed into a tight line, and his eyebrows knitted. There was a look of confusion with a hint of anger in his eyes. He broke eye contact with me as someone approached with questions. A feeling of sadness arose in me as I waked out.
What the heck was that all about?
I was foolish to think we could have anything outside of a professional relationship. From this moment on, I’d decided to forget about Sergeant Thomas and just have some fun. I was excited to make epic memories with some new friends.
